Here are two problems that my 95LX exhibits. I wonder if they are
common for all LX's, or if anyone has any explanation. My LX is a
1MB model, revision 9/20/91 (you can find your revision by quiting
all apps, switching off and the on again while ESC is pressed).

Problem #1:
When the LX is connected to a Unix machine via the serial cable and
the power turned off, received characters are turned into garbage.
(The LX turns on, when it detects activity on the serial port).
For example echo hello >/dev/ttypf when the LX is turned off, will turn
the LX on and consistently make it receive "===5k===5k===5k===5k===5k".
The configuration is 9600, no parity, 8 bit.

Problem #2:
When batteries go low, a black flashing line appears on the top left of
the display and a beep sounds. If I remember correctly the first time the
batteries went low, the line included a message like: "Main batteries low".
Now the is just an empty black line.

Any ideas or hints for both of the problems would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Diomidis
