On the Monday 1993/2/8 Lufthansa evening flight from Munich to London
Heathrow, about 10 minutes before landing, the Boing 767? aircraft moved
violently for about half a second. The feel and sound of the movement
was almost like the one experienced when the wheels touch the tarmac on
landing. We had already started the descent for LHR, but were still
above the cloud level. About ten seconds after the incident the pilot
informed us that the bump was due to "another aircraft". I am
wondering what that could have been. A normal near passing aircraft,
or a "near hit"? The feel of the aircraft's movemement was distinctly
solid, unlike that caused by air pressure differentials. Could that
other airplane have touched us without any damages? I would appreciate
any ideas.
