The site where I can launch my equipment is a very rocky beach. I would
really like to leave my equipment (semi) rigged overnight to avoid the
overhead of setting everything up each morning. However, one night last
year the waves and the wind threw my equipment around, damaging the
board and boom, and ruining the (fortunately 6 year old) sail. I
wouldn't like my new sail to suffer similarly this year.

One idea I'm toying with is to setup a permanent anchoring site a few
meters from the beach and tie the equipment there. This would allow me
to swim to and from the board instead of braving the rocks and risking
equipment damage. However, I haven't seen this practiced anywhere else,
so I'm wondering whether there are some risks I haven't though of. One
would be the damage by the sun's UV rays. How serious would that be?
Can you think of any other problems? Any other proposals?
