Various BITNET lists have started flowing into Europe in the bit.listserv USENET news hierarchy. From the path they follow, it looks like the national backbone is getting them from mcsun which is in turn getting them from uunet. I know that some of the lists come to Europe over BITNET as well. Have any of the people running eunet considered saving eunet or the national backbones some money and bandwidth by getting the lists from a nearer BITNET host? This could be done at a national level, or by mcsun for the whole Europe. In the first case the costs of bringing them over the Atlantic would be saved, in the second the costs of transfering them through Europe would be saved as well.
